Sunday 16th February 2025: Winter Wildlife Walk

The Winter Wildlife Walk will take place at 1.30pm on Sunday 16th February, led by Gary.

Description:

We will walk up towards Mount Caburn, explore the ancient ruins of the settlement up there, then down into the valley and up the other side past ‘Bible Bottom’ and towards the view inland towards Ringmer, then south again to then walk back down into Glynde past Glynde Place. The walk is 5 miles and includes one long moderately steep climb and then another not so long moderate climb. We may be able to have Tea at the Little Cottage Tea Room, but depends on time of our return and how many of us there are.

Sunday 15th December 2024: Stanmer Xmas Walk

The Stanmer Xmas Walk will take place at 1pm on Sunday 15th December, led by Gary.

Description:

Walk will be just under 6 miles and take us up to Ditchling Beacon, 3 moderate hills taking in lovely woodland areas and stunning views both north and south. At the end we will hopefully be able to have tea and cake at Stanmer House or if in time the cafe in Stanmer Village.

Bus: 78 Bus from Brighton.

Car: Via A27. There are authorised car parks on site in Stanmer Park. The Church car park is best one to choose if there is space – see map & more details. Parking anywhere else in the park is strictly prohibited. You can pay by phone or the PayByPhone app. It is probably best to download the app at home before you leave and set up an account. Charges are £3 for up to 4 hours.

Meeting Point:

Meet at corner by the bus stop for the number 78 bus from Brighton, which is at the entrance to the road leading in to Stanmer Village.

Sunday 10th November 2024: All Around Alfriston

The All Around Alfriston Walk will take place at 1.30pm on Sunday 10th November, led by Andrew.

Description:

We head up from Alfriston onto the South Downs Way, then head south-east towards Seaford, before circling back towards our starting point. Refreshments in a local hostelry in Alfriston.

The Coasting the Clifftops Walk will take place at 1pm on Sunday 19th January, led by Andrew.

Description:

A lovely winter’s walk, heading from East Dean up along the stunning clifftops of the Seven Sisters, with a stop at the Seven Sisters’ Country Park tea rooms part way.

We then make our way through Friston Forest via the picturesque village of Westdean back to East Dean.
