Description:

Our regular Seaford social on the first Tuesday of the month for a drink and a natter.

All LGBTQ+ people from near or far are welcome.

Sunday 8th June 2025: The Seaford Saunter

The Seaford Saunter will take place at 2pm on Sunday 8th June, led by Andrew.

Description:

A walk along the beach towards Newhaven, then across the bridge and down the “road to nowhere”, before heading up into the Downs with scenic views as we return to Seaford via Norton and pictursque Bishopstone village. Refreshments at the end of the walk.

Gradient:

Moderate with a couple of hills but plenty of flat.

Transport:

Car: Via A259. Park at the Buckle Car Park near the starting point.

Bus: 12 along the coast. Get off at Hill Rise, and it’s about a 5-minute walk to the starting point.

Train: To Bishopstone Station + a short walk.

Meeting Point:

On the Seafront near to the Newhaven & Seaford Sailing Club.

Sunday 11th May 2025: The Quicker, Flatter Upper Dicker Walk

The Shorter, Flatter Upper Dicker Walk will take place at 2pm on Sunday 11th May, led by Andrew.

Description:

From the starting point we head south-east past Park Wood via Beacon’s Wood to Caneheath. We then pass through Wilmington Wood and Bramble Grove behind Michelham Priory back to Upper Dicker. Refreshments are at the end of the walk in The Plough.

Flat, with a few stiles.

Transport:

Car: Via A27 + Station Road / Wick Street.
Train: To Berwick Station, but it is over a 2-mile walk to the starting point, so please contact us if you need a lift from the station, and we will try to assist.

Meeting Point:

Meet at the junction of Coldharbour Road and Michelham Priory Road. Parking is available in nearby streets.

Sunday 27th April 2025: The West Hoathly Bluebell

The West Hoathly Bluebell Walk will take place at 2pm on Sunday 27th April, led by Gary.

Description:

We cross the Bluebell railway twice (hopefully we will see a steam train) walk down to large lake, then along the top of a set of climbing cliffs (interesting to watch the climbers) then back into woodland where we go through the Gravetye Manor Estate. Drinks at the Fox Pub after.

Sunday 13th April 2025: The 21st Birthday Walk

The 21st Birthday Walk will take place at 2pm on Sunday 13th April, led by Andrew.

Description:

From the starting point we cross the railway line and walk alongside the banks of the River Ouse to Southease station. Then we head up into the Downs to the highest point of the walk, before descending a long, moderate slope to South Heighton, where we will finish with refreshments in the Flying Fish.

Gradient:

One medium steep climb, the rest flat or downhill.

Transport:

Car via A259 / A27 + A26. Park in nearby roads. There is usually parking available around the Iveagh Crescent area, which is about a 10-minute walk from the starting point.

For anyone tempted to park at Paradise Park, please note that they lock their gates at 6pm and overnight parking is not permitted!

Bus or train to Newhaven Town Railway station + a half-mile (10-minute) walk up New Road opposite the station to the starting point on the left after the Britannia building.

Meeting Point:

At the junction between New Road and the slip road to the railway line where the Wilkins sign is.

Sunday 9th March 2025: The March Hare Walk

The March Hare Walk will take place at 2pm on Sunday 9th March, led by Andrew.

Description:

We head from the back of Peacehaven via Telscombe Village through the scenic Downs to Rodmell, where we will stop for refreshments at the Abergavenny Arms. Then we head via Southease to walk the along the riverbank of the Ouse as far as Piddinghoe. From there we head up through the Downs to return to our starting point.

Sunday 30th March 2025: Beware the Ides of March Walk

The Beware the Ides of March Walk will take place at 2pm on Sunday 30th March, led by Gary.

Description:

We will head from Steyning towards Wiston House & continue west until a track up through Forest to Chanctonbury Ring, then return along South Downs Way & down through Forest to Steyning, where we will have a Pub stop for a drink.

Sunday 16th February 2025: Winter Wildlife Walk

The Winter Wildlife Walk will take place at 1.30pm on Sunday 16th February, led by Gary.

Description:

We will walk up towards Mount Caburn, explore the ancient ruins of the settlement up there, then down into the valley and up the other side past ‘Bible Bottom’ and towards the view inland towards Ringmer, then south again to then walk back down into Glynde past Glynde Place. The walk is 5 miles and includes one long moderately steep climb and then another not so long moderate climb. We may be able to have Tea at the Little Cottage Tea Room, but depends on time of our return and how many of us there are.
