Sunday 9th November 2025: The Nippy November Walk

The Nippy November Walk will take place at 1.30pm on Sunday 9th November led by Gary.

Description:

We will walk up the long gentle Mill Hill to the park, then down towards the Adur River, which we cross to walk along the eastern side of Shoreham Airport and then along the back of the famous House Boats then onto the Beach at Shoreham. Before crossing over the bridge back towards town we will stop at the Pub ‘Waterside’.

Gradient:

Mild with only one long relatively shallow hill.

Transport:

Train: To Shoreham station.

Car: Via A27, parking in streets nearby.

Description:

We start by going coastal along the clifftops down to Saltdean with sea views, then head inland through rolling downland with beautiful views. We return via the Telscombe Tye enjoying a splendid vista of the sun setting over the sea, finishing with drinks at the Smuggler’s rest.

Description:

From Wannock we head to Fulkington, round the South Downs Way to Jevington, where we will stop at the Eight Bells for a drink. We return across the hills with splendid views in all directions.

The Delights of Ditchling Walk will take place at 2pm on Sunday 12th October led by Gary.

Description:

Start in Ditchling and head up into the Downs with nice views north and south, especially when heading west along the South Downs Way, over Ditchling Beacon, then back down into the town and a refreshment stop at The Bull Inn.

Sunday 14th September 2025: The Jevington Bow-Tie Walk – CANCELLED

The Jevington Bow-Tie Walk will take place at 2pm on Sunday 14th September led by Gary.

Description:

It will be 6.5 miles, two quite long moderate climbs, first west up into Friston Forest, then back down along another path to the south east towards the village again, then up east along the South Downs Way to a nice view point looking towards Hastings, then north and west back down to The Eight Bells Pub where we will have refreshments, before returning to our cars.

The name Jevington ‘Bow-tie walk’ is due to the shape of the paths taken, and does not constitute a recommendation for attire!

Sunday 16th August 2026: The Idyllic Isfield Walk

Description:

From Isfield we enjoy a lovely riverside walk along the banks of the Ouse, past the Old Mill and The White House (no, not that one!). We return via Agmonds Wood and Dallas Lane, finishing with a drink at the Laughing Fish.

Description:

We will make use of the Vanguard Way for part of the walk across to Lower Claverham House then onto smaller paths leading to Chalvington, Lower Claverham Farm, Wickstreet and Arlington Reservoir.

The terrain is relatively level however there are styles and gates to climb over several times.

Meeting Point:

We will meet on the Vanguard Way outside the Village Hall at Berwick. There is free parking there or parking at Berwick Station a few hundred yards up the road (cost is £2.80 full day on Sundays). The village hall is in a left turn a few hundred yards north of Berwick station.

Sunday 2nd August 2026: The Quicker, Flatter Upper Dicker Walk

Description:

From the starting point we head south-east past Park Wood via Beacon’s Wood to Caneheath. We then pass through Wilmington Wood and Bramble Grove behind Michelham Priory back to Upper Dicker. Refreshments are at the end of the walk in The Plough.

The West Hoathly Bluebell Walk will take place at 2pm on Sunday 27th April, led by Gary.

Description:

We cross the Bluebell railway twice (hopefully we will see a steam train) walk down to large lake, then along the top of a set of climbing cliffs (interesting to watch the climbers) then back into woodland where we go through the Gravetye Manor Estate. Drinks at the Fox Pub after.

Sunday 30th August 2026: The Last Days of Summer Walk

Description:

We head from the back of Peacehaven via Telscombe Village through the scenic Downs to Rodmell, where we will stop for refreshments at the Abergavenny Arms. Then we head via Southease to walk the along the riverbank of the Ouse as far as Piddinghoe. From there we head up through the Downs to return to our starting point.
